Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in our lives that we lose focus on God. He loves us and desires for us to not only walk in communion with Him, but to resist the temptations of this world. The bible instructs us to be in the world, but not of the world. One of the greatest things that people struggle with is self-control. It is so easy to be impulsive and react to certain situations we are facing. In my own weaknesses, I have found myself being quick to speak, rather than slowing down and thinking things through. Today is a wonderful day to stop for a moment, slow down, thank God for the things in your life, and reconnect with a loving Father who is merciful and forgiving. Talk with Him, search your heart, and see what God will do in you. Go forth in faith, loving everyone genuinely, serving in Grace, and living a life of Holiness in Christ Jesus. May God go with you in all you do. ~ Missy 1 Peter 2: 13 -17 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether the the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 1 Peter 3:10 Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:15-22 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spririts in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. .... 1 Peter 4 Living for God 1 Peter 4:7-11 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter was written by the Apostle Peter in the early A.D. 60s - before he was martyred in 67-68. Christianity was not a popular religion during the Roman Empire - under Emperor Nero.
