When you think of God, what do you think about? What is the first thing that comes to mind? For some it probably is a father, Savior, provider. Did you know that God is so much more and desires much more with you? Isaiah 54:5 says, " For your Maker is your husband - the Lord Almighty is his name - the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, he is called the God of all the earth." God desires to have more than just a Sunday realtionship with us. He wants to be intimate with each of us - just as we are intimate with our spouses. The kind of relationship that reflects devotion and adoration. When was the last time you drew that close to your Heavenly Father? At night, before you close yours - how much time do you really give him? I recall a few Sundays ago, Pastor Doug talking about how sometimes we just rush through things so much that even at bedtime we say a quick prayer and then right to sleep. Does this sound familiar in your own life? I know, I have at times been guilty of it. But, God desires so much more. He wants us to walk with him, trust him completely, and talk with him constantly. He wants to be more than just our Father, but also, our friend, comforter, lover, encourager, teacher, and most of all Savior. In today's devotion, I want to share this portion from my Women of Faith study bible with you. It reads: "If you desire intimacy with God, go to him in prayer. He is waiting. He will rejoice, and he will treat you with tenderness and compassion (Isa 40:11). He is the perfect lover of your soul, one who wil never disappoint (Ro 5:5), one who will be faithtful, true and loving (Ps 145:13; Rev 19:11). How long before you say, "My lover is mine and I am his" (SS 2:16)?" [Source: Women of Faith Study Bible Week 20 Intimacy with God page 1095] Written by: Melissa Schenk
