Pastor: Douglas I. Sherwood 

          Twenty-eight years ago Pastor Doug and Debbie Sherwood began their marriage here on the coast of North Carolina.  It was here in this community God called Pastor Doug into the ministry, at which time he and Debbie moved to Trevecca Nazarene College (Now Trevecca Nazarene University), in Nashville, Tennessee.  There, Pastor Doug earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion, and Master of Arts in Theology, followed by post graduate work at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.  He was ordained on the Virginia District Church of the Nazarene in August 1990, with Dr. Eugene Stowe as the presiding General Superintendent. 

          Pastor Doug and Debbie have been blessed to have had opportunities to pastor churches in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina prior to returning to Brunswick County, North Carolina.  In 2000 God brought the Sherwoods full circle as He led them back to Brunswick County, in preparation for beginning a brand new thing, which would eventually become known as the Coastal Community Church of the Nazarene. 

          The Sherwoods are the parents of three daughters; Stephanie (22), recently a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University with a B.S. in Social Work, and currently serving in Croatia as a Nazarene short-term (one year) Missionary; Stacy, who went to be with the Lord shortly after birth in 1995; and Makenzie (11), who shares her birthday with Stacy, born exactly 5 years to the day Stacy entered this world and went on to heaven to be with the Lord.  Makenzie is currently in 6th grade, and excels scholastically, thrilled to finally be in middle school, and majoring in the "3 R's" . . .

          All the Sherwoods, parents and children alike, love living on the coast, and are thrilled to be a part of God's great plan to redeem mankind to Himself.  What a privilege to serve such an awesome God!
